What Each Performance Rating Measures

Forgiveness

How well the club minimises the effect of off-centre strikes. Higher scores suit mid-to-high handicappers who want consistency on mishits.

Distance (Alignment for putters)

Ball speed and carry achieved with centre strikes, weighted toward total yardage. For putters, this rating is replaced with Alignment — how well the putter helps you start the ball on your intended line.

Feel

Subjective feedback — sound, vibration, and confidence at address. Draws on blinded player testing across multiple swing speeds.

Good to Know

Why is Performance weighted at 50%?+
A club's real-world performance is the most important thing. Price and savings matter, but a cheap club that doesn't perform won't score well. Performance carries half the score so the final number reflects how the club actually plays.
What is Price Competitiveness exactly?+
We take the lowest current new price for a club across all tracked Australian retailers and compare it to every other club in the same category. The cheapest club in a category scores 10; the most expensive scores 1; everything else scales proportionally between those two.
What is Retailer Value Spread and why does it matter?+
It's the percentage gap between the cheapest and most expensive retailer for the same club. A bigger spread means more money is on the table by shopping around — which is exactly the gap GolfEverything helps you find. That's why a larger spread scores higher.
Where do the prices come from?+
We track prices from major Australian golf retailers — including Drummond Golf, House of Golf, Golf Clearance Outlet, Golf Box, Golf Paradise, 2nd Swing AU and eBay Australia — and update them regularly. The lowest new price across all retailers feeds the Price Competitiveness component.
